Türkiye will be introduced to 5G technology in the new year.

The industrial trade fair WIN EURASIA is bringing its 5G vision for Smart Manufacturing to Istanbul between March 12-15. Prior to the exhibition, where companies participating in the special 5G Arena zone will showcase their 5G scenarios in Türkiye for the first time, a cooperation ceremony was held featuring a domestically developed 5G network and base station. Speaking at the ceremony, Hannover Fairs Turkey General Manager Alexander Kühnel stated that they are closely following the digital transformation of Turkish companies and invited everyone interested in the latest technologies developed by local companies to attend WIN EURASIA 2020 at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Beylikdüzü.

The first 5G industrial scenarios of Türkiye, which were exhibited at WIN EURASIA 2020 organized by Hannover Fairs Turkey between March 12-15, 2020, were introduced during a signing ceremony attended by Siemens, Mitsubishi Electric, MCS, i2i Systems, SICK, Universal Robots UR, Schunk, IQ Vizyon, Merlicon, Oppent, Siskon, Simtek, and Trio Mobil.

During the ceremony, where i2i Systems announced its newly developed domestic 5G network for the first time, the “5G for Smart Manufacturing” scenarios to be implemented in the 5G Arena were presented. Within the “Integrated Digitalization and Industry 4.0” scenario, the live 5G network developed by i2i Systems was successfully tested.

The “CodeMaster Industry 4.0 Application,” designed by MCS Group, used this network to establish IIoT-based communication between a Mitsubishi Electric robot, a Schunk robotic gripper, and the Siemens MindSphere cloud solution. As part of the scenario, the entire lifecycle of a product could be monitored in real time from the moment a work order was issued.

In another scenario utilizing i2i Systems’ domestic 5G technology and exhibited in cooperation with SICK, Universal Robots UR, and Schunk, real-time interaction between humans, robots, cloud systems, and sensors was demonstrated.

Stating that the collaboration aims to encourage joint efforts that will contribute to the transformation of various industries through 5G technologies, Hannover Fairs Turkey General Manager Alexander Kühnel said:

“Türkiye is making a major leap in digital transformation. The use of a domestic 5G frequency in integrated 5G scenarios demonstrates that Türkiye takes its National Technology Initiative seriously and is opening the door to a new era. At WIN EURASIA, we will bring together live 5G scenarios covering autonomous systems, human-robot interaction, real-time heat mapping, production monitoring, dark factories, artificial intelligence, deep learning, and cloud systems. The world will witness Türkiye’s industrial strength.”

“5G Applications Will Significantly Increase Productivity”

Emre Sönmez, Country Manager for Türkiye and the Middle East at Schunk, stated that they were pleased to be part of 5G applications that will provide the speed required for Industry 4.0 technologies.

“In this era of the Internet of Things, our products enable direct status monitoring, process monitoring, and communication at the component level. By integrating into this ecosystem, we are contributing to increased efficiency. We are excited about the growth in commercial capacity that 5G applications will bring, especially in manufacturing environments where flexibility, speed, and productivity gains are essential.”

“Transition to Industry 4.0 Should Be a Priority for Türkiye”

Dr. Hüseyin Halıcı, Vice President of ENOSAD, emphasized the importance of digitalization, Industry 4.0, and domestic technology:

“Digitalization and the transition to Industry 4.0 have become more critical than ever for every branch of Turkish industry. We believe that industrial companies, particularly SMEs, will gain significant competitive advantages by adopting these technologies in production without delay. Considering Türkiye’s technological infrastructure, especially in fields such as information technologies and automation, local companies are already prepared to make substantial progress toward Industry 4.0. As ENOSAD, we believe that digitalization and Industry 4.0 should be among Türkiye’s top priorities, and we are ready to cooperate with both national and international members to contribute to this goal. We invite everyone who wishes to follow the latest developments in Industry 4.0 and digitalization to visit WIN EURASIA.”
